From War-Torn Ukraine to Miyazaki: Hope for the Future Through the Bonds of Karate
We, the Universal Shotokan Karate Union (USKU Japan), have branches all over the world and focus on
international exchange and human development through karate. This time, we have launched a project to invite a family of four from Ukraine, who have been learning and teaching Shotokan karate, to
Miyazaki. We will support their safe and fulfilling stay for three months. This project aims to offer peace of mind and a fresh perspective to karate practitioners facing difficult times in
Ukraine.

〜Project Background〜
The ongoing war in Ukraine has had a severe impact on daily life, especially affecting the safety and
well-being of children and families who need a secure environment. Among those facing these hardships are Ukrainian karate families who have been forced to live under the threat of war. Karate is
not only a way to build physical and mental health, but it also plays a vital role in connecting people and communities. Guided by the spirit of karate, we want to offer these families a
temporary place of refuge and a chance to learn and grow, helping them find their smiles once again.

Project Details
In this project, we will invite a family of four from Ukraine who have been teaching Shotokan karate.
During their stay in Miyazaki, we will provide safe housing, food, and essential supplies. We will also organize workshops to help them learn about Japanese culture and traditions. Additionally,
we plan to hold events for interaction with local residents, hoping that their experience in Japan will offer new perspectives that can help in rebuilding their community when they return to
Ukraine.
We are currently preparing for their arrival by securing housing in Miyazaki, gathering necessary
supplies, and coordinating with the local community. We are also working closely with contacts in Ukraine to ensure the family's safe travel and support throughout their journey.
